Sad to know that except for Ken Osmond (Eddie), the rest of these celebrities have passed away being no longer with us today. I ate some Double Cheeseburgers at my local McDonald’s a few days ago thinking about how sadly they are not around anymore to even eat what I was eating anymore or even visit a McDonald’s.

  2. jksonny

Odd that the double cheeseburger was not a permanent item on the menu in 1989.

OMG, I remember these commercials but I scrolled down to your comment and looked up and both are at the same 1:34 mark. I had enough by the time I hit that mark.

  8. BMeister22

Sad how everybody in this commercial is now dead…except for Eddie Haskell.

  9. BettyVanSneeIV

Buddy Ebsen was eating Barney Fife.

  10. Grovester77

The only thing these commercials were missing was Barney Fife.

This commercial is just charming. With the exception of Beverly Hillbillies, I pretty much grew up in the 1970s watching syndicated reruns of all their respective classic tv shows (I didnt get to see Beverly Hillbillies until after I got cable tv in 1996). Get Smart, The Munsters, Gilligans Island. and Leave It To Beaver. Ah, memories.

    What a treat.

  13. GhostOfACPast

Considering the rate of inflation you are paying less today than you did then but the quality of the burgers just sucks compared to 1988 too.

  14. tbone24100

Damn double cheeseburger is 89 cents from 1988 today it’s $1.19!!!

  15. ifoundaskull

These commercials are okay, but when watched in a big batch like this, your brain starts to shut down by the 1:34 mark.

If McDonald’s ever did one of these retro commercials again, here are the characters I’d love to see reprising their roles:

John Walton, George Jefferson, Carol and Greg Brady, Fonzie

I loved watching those classic shows in reruns when I was a kid. What an adorable
commercial. This commercial is a real winner. Way to go McDonald’s!!!!!

  25. GatorsNation

WoW Jeff!!! I didn’t realize she was still kickin! Who couldn’t enjoy these shows? I’m 32, so I didn’t grow up with them in original airing, but I did grow up with them during the original hey days of Nick at Nite. It was so much better in those days of the early eighties. These shows seem to be so much better than “MOST” new shows of today. Its like the great atheletes of yesterday. Everyones all about the money nowadays as oppossed to being great actors from back then like Don Adams.

  26. johnhamilton08

or maybe they come from NEW York… or Massasuch

    Leave Robert Denby alone! D:

Crow’s reaction was perfect and is one of my all time favorite moments in the show’s history. The first time I watched it I laughed so hard that I couldn’t breathe.
