PLEASE NOTE YOUTUBE THIS IS SOME OF MY PERSONAL INTERVIEW WITH FRANK CADY. DO NOT REMOVE! NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENTS HERE! This is a personal interview I did with hollywood actor frank cady. Frank Cady — born September 8, 1915 is an American actor best known for his recurring and popular role as storekeeper Sam Drucker in three US television series during the 1960s: Petticoat Junction, Green Acres and The Beverly Hillbillies. Born in Susanville, California, Cady attended Stanford University, where he was involved with the campus humor magazine, the Stanford Chaparral. He served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. Cady began acting in 1947. In 1950 he had an uncredited speaking role in the classic film noir drama DOA (as Sam the bartender in Banning, California) and another uncredited role in George Pál’s 1951 film When Worlds Collide (as the assistant who pushes the wheelchair belonging to John Hoyt’s character). Cady had a prominent role in Billy Wilder’s film Ace in the Hole (also known as The Big Carnival). He had a small non-speaking role, seen mostly in long shot, in one of Alfred Hitchcock’s most prestigious films, Rear Window. He can also be seen in the 1950 film Father of the Bride requesting a martini from Spencer Tracy during the engagement party. In the 1950s Cady played Doc Williams in Ozzie and Harriet along with numerous supporting parts in movies and also appeared in television commercials for (among other products) Shasta Grape Soda

R.I.P. Frank Cady. God Bless You.

  39. ukamerica8

I could listen to him all the time as well

  40. FlamingoKicker

Remember that they brought Frank back for the episode where Otis left Mayberry and went off to the big city to make his name for himself and ended up in the drunk tank there and ran into Frank? If they didn’t like Frank’s acting why did they bring him back to play a big city drunk?

  41. dixonh64

    When was this interview conducted?

  42. 4thekidsTV

Dear Sheri,Charlie Lane was the old comic/character actor..who played”Hormer Barlowe”on”Petticoat Junction” and he played the opinionated hitchhiker in
    “Murphy’s Romance”.

  43. Joseph88keyz

great interview! This was one of my favorite shows..and Sam was one of my favorite characters.Remember also..Sam Drucker and the Hooterville gang was also incorporated with The Beverly Hillbillies..cause I remember “Granny”..had a thing for him

  44. elginfans

I remember Frank Cady played a guest drunk on the Andy Griffith show once when Otis rebelled against Barney and went to a different jail.

I love that Frank sounds so good and clear minded.

This is great piece, thanks for sharing it with us!!

  45. ChihuahuaboyDH

Frank Cady still sounds GREAT for someone in his mid-nineties! He’s still going strong at 96 years of age! Great interview! Frank is like the Energizer Bunny…he keeps going, & going, & going, etc., etc.. Let’s hope this man is around to see his 100th birthday in 2015!

    Bravo, Mr. Cady!

  46. ridgerunner721601

I’m glad Frank lost out on the part of Otis, because if he hadn’t we’d have never had him as Sam Drucker, the friendly shopkeeper on Petticoat Junction and Green Acres. He was just terrific in that role. Sometimes it seemed that Sam was the only sane person in Hooterville besides Oliver.

  47. filmidioten

Awesome and still going strong. Cady was even in Hitchcock’s greatest film, REAR WINDOW. He played the husband of the couple who always slept on the fire escape because of the heat. When was this interview made?
