5-string Banjo: Ballad of Jed Clampett (Including lyrics and chords)

The Beverly Hill Billies was one of the funniest shows on TV in the black and white era and along with friends, I watched it avidly every week. The accompanying Bluegrass music was mostly performed by Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs and their band. It sounded great to me and I always hankered to be able to play the banjo like Earl. I have never achieved that ambition, but do try, so here is my favourite Hill Billy song with a smattering of Foggy Mountain Breakdown to introduce it.

Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil – Movie Trailer 2: Tucker and Dale vs. Evil is a genre-bending indie horror comedy. Labine stars as Dale alongside Tudyk as Tucker, two good-natured hillbillies mistakenly accused of being psycho killers by a group of college kids camping at the same lake where the hillbillies have just acquired a dilapidated cabin as their summer home. —————————– Tucker and Dale Vs. Only the introduction was Foggy Mountain Breakdown, the rest was most definitely Jed Clampett

Sorry, that wasn’t the Ballad of Jed Clampett. It was Foggy Mountain Breakdown.

The humour in that show was universal. Often American humour does not translate as being funny on this side of the pond, and no doubt the same applies with British humour on the American side, but in the case of the Beverley Hillbillies, they were hilarious. Great characterizations and made to seem so realistic.

Cool deal. This one doesn’t get covered allot anymore. That was back when shows had creative openings.
