watching this clip brings back memories. I organised the first calvacade down Peel St for the ’81 Tamworth country music Awards. i personally knew most of these guys and they were true blue. I now live in Texas but I still love Aussie music.

For me Slim Dusty was the greatest Austrlian country singer. I miss him a lot.

Between Aussie Country and Texas Country, I rarely listen to modern Nashville anymore shy of Hank III and the outlaws Radio won’t play. (Yep, another American here).

They sound a lot better to me than what passes for country coming out of Nashville these days too. I agree.

i agree with you big-time. these so-called aussie singers try to imitate yankee music, and it shows. where are our real aussie singers?ha-probably in the USA!

It’s a working title, although most of the people I talked to described what they did in the beginning of their careers as “hillbilly music”, since that was what is was called back then. As for getting a copy. I’m hoping that I will have it completed by the end of this year. I have many hours of interviews to get through, and I don’t want to miss anything, but it will be worth the wait. Check back here in a few months for an update. Thanks for your interest.
