Rednex – The Spirit of the Hawk

►Song Title: The Spirit of the Hawk “The Spirit of the Hawk” is a country-dance song by the Swedish band Rednex, released from their second album, “Farm Out”. The lyrics include the spoken lines “My people, some of them, have run away to the hills, and have no shelter, no food. No one knows where they are. Hear me, my chiefs! I am tired; my heart is sick and sad. I will fight no more,” taken from Chief Joseph’s famous speech. Rednex was initially the brainchild of Swedish producers Janne Ericsson, Örjan “Öban” Öberg, and Pat Reiniz] who decided to try mixing country music with eurodance. The name “Rednex” was chosen as a deliberate misspelling of the word “rednecks”. They reworked the traditional folk song “Cotton-Eyed Joe” into a dance song and released it in 1994, to huge worldwide success. – Attribution from Wikipedia Lyrics for The Spirit of the Hawk Hey-ama-heya-mama Heya-mama Ya-heya-maya Hoa-hey The Spirit Of The Hawk He am my hero He am my love High on a hillside Heaven Above Drifting through high and low We fly away Me and my hero Me and my love The Spirit Of The Hawk ( x 2) Hey-ama-heya-mama Heya-mama Ya-heya-maya Hoa-hey He am my warrior He am my brave He gonna fight a war Freedom to save He gonna fight for love Far away Me and my warrior Me and my brave The Spirit Of The Hawk ( x 2 ) Hey-ama-heya-mama Heya-mama Ya-heya-maya Hoa-hey The Spirit Of The Hawk ( x 2 ) Hey-ama-heya-mama Heya-mama Ya-heya-maya Hey-ama-heya-mama My people, Some of them have run away

I am a red white and blue American but this video leaves me with a sad feeling of what we did to the American Indian. With all the problems we have in this country maybe we could learn something from them. I can’t get this song out of my head.
