I used to live next to a Taishan (Toi Saan) landlady and she would constantly yell at me when i go over her to her apartment complex to play with one of my friends. She was mean, but adding the Taishan dialect made her sound even more angry (unless she really was xD). She sounded inbetween angry and throat clearing at the same time; hopefully that is just her and not the actual dialect because she is the only Taishan person I knew.

You are completely right. The dialect we have where I come from simply just sounds rude. Even when someone’s using it to compliment the other, it sounds like swearing.

All chinese dialects are funny sounding and even some are horrible, but cantonese is one of the easier to understand dialect of the chinese. You’re right tho that cantonese is the funniest one. Stephen Chow is amazingly funny in cantonese.

Pretty sure he does, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he can imitate the other dialects. Going with the easier one, cantonese is much easier to speak without the heavy accent.

It hard to make joke on singapore, a lot of people outside singapore, never heard of that country. To major asian country such as Hong Kong SAR, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and Thailand, the rest are just shitty little asian country. I mean come on would people get singaporean joke ?
