Part 2.. the cast started doing more singing, and the focus began to shift away from the railroad, and more on Steve and the girls’ singing. There had been some singing in the earlier shows, but the “singing era” REALLY began in season 4, and the slapstick comedy was toned way down. I guess since Mike and Meredith were singers for real, they probably wanted to share their talent with the rest of the cast.
From that point on, gradually, but surely, PJ became a very different show.
    Agree anyone?

This is when Petticoat Junction was at it’s all time nuttiness. It was a very different series at this time. Much more slapstick than in later years. Season 2 was probably the most slapstick of all. I think season 3 was pretty much the same tone, but in color, and with new Billie(Gunilla Hutton and Bobbie Jo’s (Lori Saunders). But starting with season 4, when yet another Billie Jo(Meredith MacRae,) and the arrival of Steve(Mike) the tone began to change.
The cast started doing more singing…

If Chester W. Farnsworth went out into the storm after he left the Shady Rest Hotel, he probably got struck by lightning.

Kind of scary. Sounds more like an Alfred Hitchcock movie than a rural sitcom.
