I used to live right outside of Richmond, VA and heard that same turn of R’s and Y sounds (if I’m summing it up correctly) in the local’s pronunciation there. Always wondered where it evolved from.

I have a slangless West of Scotland accent. Although a lot of people think there’s only one or two British accents, the thing is about Britain is that it’s so small and condensed you can travel a hour down the road and the people will have a completely different accent.
