Sho Kosugi trained Rutger in sword fighting, did all the choreography for the movie, played a cameo and then also did stunts and fights as a stunt double for Rutger.
He moved back to Japan, did a film over there with Toshiro Mifune and at one point jumped on the aerobics craze with…and ” i’m not kidding ” Ninja Aerobics…which didn’t work. He eventually starred in a television series and started an Action School. One of his sons is a on and off member of Jackie Chan’s stunt team. One of Van Damme’s early roles was in Sho Kosugi film called Black Eagle which has never been released on dvd …only video tape.
I think this was Sho’s last appearance in a feature film. He’s a legend plain & simple. Deserves a lot more recognition. The man is all Japan Karate Champion & could wipe the floor clean with Jean Claude Van Damme if he so chooses to.

I love how Sho jumps, bounces off the spring board and does a full side way flip to get in front of Rutger. So cool!!!

Sho Kosugi was so cool in this scene and also I love it when Rutger Hauer goes “Japanese huh?”
