Robert Osborne is mostly known as a reporter and host of TCM’s prime-time movies, but he started as an actor. Here’s a clip of his bit part in the Beverly Hillbillies pilot. Video Rating: 5 / 5
Nick Clooney is the brother of the late actress, TV hostess, and jazz singer Rosemary Clooney, as well the father of some little-known actor named George Clooney.
Another guy, a broadcaster/journalist by the name of Nick Clooney, used to perform similar hosting duties on American Movie Classics (AMC), back when that cable television channel featured more vintage films than it currently programs.
Like Turner Classic Movie’s Robert Osborne, Clooney would introduce and explain about the actors and history of each film presented on AMC, in wrap segments before and after the film.
I second that emotion! Handsome fellow! I love his work as TCM host. He comes across as incredibly nice, friendly & down to earth. He obviously loves what he does.
The first time I remember ever seeing Robert O. was on The Movie Channel back in 1987. He was doing an intro for Seance on a Wet Afternoon. I wasn’t really planning on watching the movie until he finished his intro, but he got me interested.

handsome, yes, but clearly awkward in acting. Lucy Ball suggested he become a writer using his knowledge/love of movies instead. A wise move!

He gives a great deal of misinformation in his TCM comments. It’s time for him to retire.
