“Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Jesse “The Body” Ventura talk some schmack and prepare to meet several hillbillies in the ring for a vendetta match. Video Rating: 5 / 5
Awesome. I remember watching this when it aired. Back when I was a kid and believed everything was real and was worried Hulk Hogan was going to lose the belt to Terry Funk. Rowdy Roddy Piper was always my favorite wrestler too.
I find it interesting that on a Saturday Night’s Main Event, that they’d use the house ring considering how particular NBC was about everything else involved in a SNME. Even the ropes were placed blue white and red, when they probably could’ve easily been placed red white and blue.
Now THIS is exciting… this is how you build a feud and get the fans into something… listen to that crowd… no lame back-stage soap opera-style story telling, just a couple of mean, badass promos by Jesse and the Hot Rod, and a weasel in the booth. For some reason, the half a second when Piper puts up bunny-ears on Mean Gene is my favorite part. Thanks for posting. Heel-charisma through the roof.
